Europe’s largest shipbuilder wants to set up 2 GWh lithium-ion battery production

Italian shipbuilding company fincantieri recently announced that its fincantieri si company has joined hands with faist Electronics, a subsidiary of Italian industrial group faist, to start producing lithium ion storage systems. Fincantieri said in a statement that the new lithium ion storage system will be managed by the newly established joint venture power4future, and the production capacity will reach 2gwh in the next five years. The company said: “The industrial partnership envisages building a battery production facility, and then designing, assembling, selling and after-sales service modules and battery packs, including control equipment, such as battery management system (bms) and auxiliary systems.” The batteries produced by the new facilities are expected to be used in automotive, marine and terrestrial energy storage applications. Fincantieri is headquartered in Trieste, Venice-Giulia, friuli, northern Italy, and operates in ancona, Italy; Sestri ponente and monfalcone are near Trieste; Sestri ponente is near Genoa. Faist Group is headquartered in London, and most of its industrial activities in Italy are located in the central area of umbria.
